HIPAA Orientation for Physician Practices and Clinics

HIPAA Orientation for Physician Practices and Clinics
Compliance

Learning App: Free
Badge Assessment: $39.00

About this Course

If you’re a staff member or volunteer who works in a physician practice or clinic, you are required by HIPAA (The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) to complete a HIPAA training course. The HIPAA Privacy Rule states: “A covered entity must train all workforce members on its privacy policies and procedures as necessary and appropriate for them to carry out their functions.”

The two parts of this course are designed for the staff and volunteers of small and mid-sized physician practices and clinics, and will teach learners about patient rights and facility regulations regarding the access, use, and disclosure of protected health information (PHI). Learners will also determine when and how to defer to the expertise of designated staff in unusual or high-stakes situations.

Note: This learning app is designed to train staff and volunteers in what they must do to be compliant with national HIPAA regulations. Given this focus, the orientation does not cover state laws or the policies and procedures that impact specific facilities. Your facility should therefore provide additional orientation regarding state laws and facility-specific policies and procedures that your staff and volunteers should be aware of.
